Jones, Partners: Architecture: Alameda
This third volume in the Jones, Partners: Architecture monograph series follows the studio’s move from coastal El Segundo to its current location near SCI‑Arc in Downtown Los Angeles. Documenting work produced between 2007 and 2013, Alameda assembles over 300 pages of projects shaped by the firm’s ongoing fascination with “machines” as both conceptual drivers and architectural forms.
The book blends built work, conceptual studies, and the office’s recognizable graphic language, including more than forty perforated pages of posters and presentation material. While the signature BOSS spirit remains central, this volume also highlights the firm’s evolving interest in what Jones calls “hard modernism,” a sharper, more distilled approach to contemporary design.
Continuing the overarching theme of “words, buildings: machines,” the collection spans scales—from major urban proposals to small‑scale furniture—supported by vivid imagery, detailed renderings, and the bold visual identity that has become synonymous with J,P:A.
